The Stay at Craig

27 Dec

After several wind delays, Joel and I finally made it here to Craig. We were flown in a very fast and smooth Lear jet. While cruising over Colorado, it was amazing to see all the snow. Everything was blanketed in white, and there is another storm expected Thursday, so thank goodness we made it.

We’re are getting settled into the new surroundings and meeting the new staff and patients, but have no idea how long we’ll be here. I’m in a room adjacent to the hospital, and it only takes a few minutes to walk to his room — which is nice.

I have just been overwhelmed this year by the well wishes, visits and gifts from loved ones and friends. You have all been amazing. This XMas was definitely memorable — thank you. I’m especially grateful to the W.P. Carey students and staff who pitched in and raised enough to pay for a couple of trips back and forth from here to Phoenix. I’ll be sending you all a personal shout out via e-mail tomorrow.

We look forward to having visitors in several days (he’ll let you know when he’s ready). Mail can also be sent to:

He says that if someone sends a winter hat he’ll shave his head…

Much love,

Post a photo with your bald dome and a HAT is on the way…I promise, I won’t send a Bills hat 🙂

I’m amazed every time Phil posts the stats for this blog…incredible. It’s a testament to the person you’ve become and to the number of lives you’ve touched. Keep up the fight and we’ll see you soon.

PS – Is Jay Cutler the “next coming” in Denver???

Welcome home! Don’t shave your head – this hat is not worth it but we are sending you a silly Bronco’s hat that Bill and Kelly received at the game you were watching on TV while writing your blog on Christmas Eve. Yep, the two of them froze but they claim the game was so exciting it was worth it. Enjoy the hat.
I already told Rory but I’ll let you and Erika know too. We have an empty condo at 13th and Spear in Denver. It is about 10 minutes from Criag Hospital. Clare lived there a few years ago and we’d like to sell it but the market is flooded so it is sitting nearly empty and Erika is welcome to use it for free.
Rory helped Clare decorate so she knows the details. We left a queen size bed, dresser, table and two chairs. The patio has a table and four chairs. There are two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living area and kitchen plus covered parking and very nice exercise facility.
Erika could use Clare’s condo now and save her time in the Craig apts for the end of Joel’s stay at Craig when he moves into the apts.
Sixteen years ago I spent a lot of time visiting a good friend at Craig. Laurel Labdon is now 36 years old and would really like to talk to you. She lives at Cape Cod and has a lot to offer you 508-896-7213. I think Erika would especially enjoy talking to Laurel. Hope Rory will call Laurel’s parents, Bob and Jane at the same phone number.
Can’t wait to visit you! Call if you need anything. LeMoine 303-332-7665

Hey Joel! Glad you made it safely to Denver. I’m sure you’ll get a great therapy crew. It’ll be a lot of work but you’re gonna be fine. You’ll give the PTs a run for their money.

We just rolled back into Boston, had a great time in Rohcester with the Hansens. We thought about you and Erika a lot.

    Take care
